Denuvo Is The End Of Piracy! And Here's Why.

PLEASE NOTE! This article is out of date and incorrect now. Denuvo was in fact cracked and was far from the end of piracy. However, the post does still have some good information on Denuvo itself and what was happening at the time so will remain posted.

So denuvo is slowly taking over our beloved triple A games and it's causing pirates of said games a lot of problems.Now if you don't know what denuvo is or even DRM. Well.. “The purpose of DRM(Digital Rights Management) is to prevent unauthorized redistribution of digital media and restrict the ways consumers can copy content they've purchased.” what this basicly means for your average PC gamer is this. Say you buy a game on steam, steam then puts that game in a room. You can't play that game unless you have the key for the door. If you have the key, you can get in there and play it. If you don't. You simply can't play the game. With cracked games, a lot of the time they will be able to emulate that key. Which means he key fits and you can get in the door and play the game without steams key.

Now denuvo is much like a really heavy duty door with a lot of locks and a lot of grooves in the keys. Now, a couple times now crack groups have been able to get into the door. But each time, it seems like they add more grooves and locks to the door.

 

So, now you have a rough understanding of denuvo. Let me say why I think it may be the end of game piracy. Let's start with the fact that denuvo is actually beating crackers. “3DM” a very well know crack group within the pirate gamers. Have officially stated that they will not be working on a crack for Just Cause 3. Now denuvo was in Dragon Age inquisition. The crack for this took a good few weeks and even then was very unstable. It was difficult to crack and left crackers with one hell of a challenge. Arkham knight soon arrived later on, this also had denuvo and couldn't even be cracked. Instead a cracker by the name of “CPY” managed to find a kind of backdoor. This let you play the game. But didn't fully “crack” the game. After this though, the game companies cracked down onto denuvo. They remade a tougher version that took even longer to get into. Denuvo was cracked by the aforementioned 3DM in order to play Metal Gear Solid V and Mad Max. Both games had mixed responses from the users in terms of performance and stability. I think this was mainly due to how hard it was to get into, let alone tinker with for bugs.

Now, like I said before. Just Cause 3 will NOT be cracked by 3DM. People are saying that this doesn't mean the game won't be cracked. Which is very true. But the matter of the fact is that 3DM were the only people previously to really crack denuvo. When you keep that in mind and the fact that they won't be cracking it this time round. This means that maybe it won't be cracked. They have also stated that they won't be cracking denuvo anymore AT ALL. What I feel this unfortunately means for the pirate game players is that playing any game with denuvo DRM won't be a possibility.This in effect I think will cause a lot of companies to see how well denuvo worked and actually beat the crackers and cause them to also use denuvo. And eventually every triple A game will use the denuvo DRM. This will end game piracy as we know it today and may even cause the huge community of game crack users and crackers to just stop all together. This is of course just assumption and speculation. But, as someone who often gets a cracked version of a game in order to see how it runs like a demo Or to play a game when I really can't afford it, I hope this doesn't happen and I hope denuvo can be cracked and will eventually go away or become as easy as other DRM’s to crack.

I personally think that DRM is bad for everyone, The Witcher 3 is an amazing example of how you can have a game that can easily be given to people for free by leaving it with literally no DRM protection and then sell tons of copies on PC.
